The West Australian government's chief casino regulator has stood aside over concerns about his friendships with Crown Resorts employees.It comes as the state's casino regulator stood aside after questions about his friendships with Crown staff.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has been “dragged kicking and screaming” to hold the Royal Commission into Crown Casino, yet the terms of reference do not have the right focus, according to Victorian Shadow Attorney-General Ed O’Donohue.
The Victorian premier announced on Monday the state government will be holding a Royal Commission into whether Crown Resorts is a fit and proper entity to hold a casino license in the state.
“This is about making sure that those who hold a casino licence in Victoria uphold the highest standards of probity and integrity, and that they're accountable for their actions," Mr Andrews said.

Mr O’Donohue said the Liberal opposition has long called for this Royal Commission, but the length of the inquiry is inadequate given the NSW Royal Commission into Crown’s position to hold a Casino licence lasted 18 months.
“Five months simply isn’t long enough and the terms of reference don’t have the focus on the Victorian regulator or Victoria Police that they should,” he told Sky News.
“Many of the issues around crown have been aired and are understood and accepted as fact.
“What isn’t really known is why has the Victorian regulator failed so badly and why isn’t Daniel Andrews making this the focus of the Royal Commission.
“Let’s get on to finding why the authorities in Victoria under the Andrews government failed so terribly.”
