Mass COVID vaccination hubs at stadiums, parks a possibility in Australia, but no clear plan yet

Mass COVID vaccination hubs at stadiums, parks a possibility in Australia, but no clear plan yet Prime Minister Scott Morrison is leaving the door open for younger Australians to be vaccinated at large public venues like stadiums.

Half of those 60, 000 vaccines will be administered at a building to be leased in Homebush . That number could go up if there is more demand, the premier said. But she emphasised the plan depended on the Commonwealth supplying the vaccine . But the state has stepped up to take over some of the federal government's work in light of the bumpy rollout. The 60, 000 vaccines a week will start once NSW meets the 300, 000 target. The state has vaccinated 134,323 people so far, and is expected to pass the 150, 000 mark by week 's end.

The NSW government will set up a " mass vaccination hub " to combat COVID-19 at Homebush , in Sydney's west, which it estimates will administer 30 , 000 doses a week . While the national vaccination rollout is behind schedule, Ms Berejiklian said the state was on track to reach the halfway point of its 300, 000 vaccine target for October by the end of this week . However, the NSW plan to accelerate its vaccination program was entirely contingent on the Morrison government being able to provide enough doses.

A mass vaccination hub set to be unveiled by the New South Wales government in Homebush is expected to vaccinate 30,000 people each week.

The government is confident the Homebush hub will be a success if it receives enough vaccines from the Commonwealth.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said, “this is all dependent on us having access to the vaccine from the Commonwealth.”

“The Commonwealth is responsible for issuing the dose to the states and all we’re doing is saying we’re ready to step up when the supply is available”.

The Homebush hub will join an additional 100 clinics set up across the state and the NSW government believes 60,000 people will be able to be vaccinated a week across all the sites .
