A timeline of female firsts in Hollywood
When the film industry was first establishing itself, women had a surprising amount of influence. They wrote, directed, and did all sorts of fascinating and shocking things on screen. Some of the most powerful women in Hollywood's history were active in the early 20th century. But in the 1930s, the Hays Code was introduced. It was a censorship law that applied to the entertainment industry, banning everything from the depiction of interracial relationships to "lustful kissing." It has taken decades for women, particularly LGBTQ women and women of color, to regain a foothold, and it's still far from being a level playing field. A fantastically unpredictable show ended on a huge bummer of an anticlimax.Even at the tail end of the Covid-19 pandemic and its associated quarantines, much of the world remains locked down. Asher is set to co-star with Nicole Kidman in her highly anticipated Hulu series Nine Perfect Strangers, alongside the likes of Melissa McCarthy and Luke Evans.
In addition to an incredible professional life and career to date, Asher also has a full and successful family life.
She is married to artist Vincent Fantauzzo and the pair tied the knot in a private beachside ceremony on Fiji's Turtle Island.
Only one guest was in attendance: Vincent's 11 year-old son, Luca, from a previous marriage.
Asher and Vincent went on to welcome a son of their own, Valentino, in March 2015.
The couple first met at Vincent's art studio in Melbourne in 2012, but he was running late and she was close to leaving.
She previously told InStyle magazine: 'I saw this incredibly gorgeous but chaotic man come outside the building looking all around him frantically - I hadn't ever met him before but I recognised him from photos - and I thought, "Oh, my God, that's him!"
