Meanwhile, it has been revealed that five patients and 22 staff at the Northern Hospital are in self-isolation for 14 days after a vaccinated nurse who worked on the COVID-19 ward at the Epping Private Hospital, also worked at the Northern while infectious on June 11 and 12.

Staff are not allowed to work across multiple sites and the blunder is being described as an "operational error".

Another 30 people have been forced into isolation after attending the Northern Health vaccination clinic on June 14 because the nurse had attended to get their second dose on that date.

Infectious disease physician Professor Sanjaya Senanayake told Today the error was concerning.

"Healthcare workers and hotel quarantine workers, they're the high-risk people when it comes to COVID," he said.

"Particularly with healthcare workers, they're coming into contact with really vulnerable people."
