GOP rep warns ‘no operational control’ of border after seeing migrants stream in, board flights
Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., on Thursday warned that the U.S. has "no operational control" of the border after a trip to Texas in which he and a number of other Republicans saw migrants streaming into the U.S. and being put on flights to other states. "We have no operational control, no legal control, no law enforcement control of our border," Good said in an interview with Fox News. "We are not enforcing our laws, we are not preventing people.
Victoria has closed its borders to NSW and the ACT, with the entire region becoming a "red zone".
Health authorities made the decision after NSW recorded 77 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, with over 100 expected today.
When midnight struck travellers from NSW and the ACT were no longer permitted to travel to Victoria, with some exceptions.
Extra police have been sent to check cars at the border at this morning.
Victorian residents can obtain a red zone permit and return home but they will be required to immediately isolate, get tested, and quarantine at home for 14 days.

Victoria recorded no local cases of COVID-19 as the acting Chief Health Officer has announced new travel permit changes, coming into effect on Saturday at 11.59pm.The state's COVID-free streak continued on Saturday, with no new local coronavirus cases recorded for the tenth consecutive day. Three new cases were recorded in hotel quarantine.

Exemptions are also available for essential workers, while border community residents can cross over in a limited capacity but must carry proof of their address.
Anybody attempting to enter Victoria illegitimately will be fined up to $4957.
Travellers from existing orange zones in NSW and the ACT were able to enter Victoria until 11.59pm yesterday if eligible, including on flights.
But they must isolate on arrival, get tested within 72 hours, and stay isolated until they return a negative result.
