Dominic Perrottet is GRILLED by Leigh Sales in first major interview

Dominic Perrottet is GRILLED by Leigh Sales in first major interview NSW's newly-appointed premier Dominic Perrottet has copped a grilling from Leigh Sales during his first major sit-down TV interview. The leader was questioned about everything from the state's Covid cases to his predecessor Gladys Berejiklian and her secret five year relationship with a rogue MP.

NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet has vowed to take action against the Obeid family, who will keep $30 million in proceeds of crime despite family patriarch Eddie Obeid and his son Moses being sentenced to jail terms on Thursday for their role in a crooked coal deal.

Mr Perrottet responded to the Herald's exclusive report that while the NSW Crime Commission could have proceeded against the family for confiscation of their ill-gotten gains, it was decided that the Australian Tax Office would instead pursue them just for the tax that should have been paid on the money.

Mr Perrottet told 2GB radio on Friday morning he had "no idea" until he read the story on the Herald on Thursday night and had sought urgent advice from the Crime Commission.

NSW's international border announcement sparks confusion

NSW's international border announcement sparks confusion NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet announced that arrival caps as well any type of quarantine for Australians and foreigners flying into Sydney would be scrapped in two weeks. But the Federal Government is in charge of the international border and there has been no word yet from Prime Minister Scott Morrison. There are suggestions Mr Morrison thought NSW's announcement would only relate to Australian citizens and has been blindsided by the news.Airlines are now scrambling to fill 6,000 empty seats per week on flights to Sydney.

"You can't act corruptly, you can't make $30 million and keep it," he said. "It's outrageous if that's the case."

Mr Perrottet said he had received some interim advice, "that is apparently that the ATO [Australian Tax Office] got in first and they don't believe that there will be any funds leftover. I certainly want to check that [there are no proceeds remaining]".

"The Crime Commission has apparently confirmed that if there is an opportunity to pursue those funds, if there are any left over, that they will," he said.

"But I'll be getting further advice today and we'll take action because it's just completely unacceptable and outrageous to any hardworking person right across our state.

"He said corrupt behaviour has no place in NSW and "you cannot be in a position where you act corruptly in this state, make tens of millions of dollars and keep it".

NSW Labor leader Chris Minns said it had been a shameful period in the party's history.

"The decision needs to be reviewed urgently," he told 2GB.
