America’s Newest National Park Will Lure You to an Underrated State

America’s Newest National Park Will Lure You to an Underrated State When I first visited West Virginia in October, 2020, I didn’t know quite what to expect beyond the stereotypes I’d seen on TV and heard about on the radio. I was visiting a friend in Ohio and the arrival of unseasonably warm weather inspired us to head to West Virginia for a few days in the woods. We spent the next few days hiking and backcountry camping and I saw my first wild bear running through the woods. Our trip was the perfect mixture of lonely wilderness and small town charm and I knew I wanted to return to explore more of the state. Just a few months later, I was given new motivation.

A man has died and a woman been rescued after the pair allegedly stole a rowboat and went for a joyride in Melbourne's Yarra River.

According to police, the 29-year-old Rowville man and the 46-year-old Upwey woman were riding in the boat about 1.30am when they were thrown out in the rapids at Dights Falls in Abbotsford.

Detective Sergeant Tom Roberts said the woman was thrown onto a rock, while the man died in the river.
