Lightning has struck a major Sydney train line causing huge delays for commuters travelling home.
Sydenham train station in the city's inner west was damaged by multiple lightning strikes as severe thunderstorms lash the area, Sydney Trains confirmed on Thursday evening.
'Services are delayed due to severe thunderstorms and multiple lightning strikes damaging equipment at Sydenham,' a spokesperson tweeted.
'Stopping patterns may change at short notice. Please listen to announcements, check information screens and use transport apps for the latest service info.'

A Sydney Trains spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia multiple lines have been affected.
'Customers are advised due to lightning strikes affecting multiple signal points at Sydenham, delays are being experienced on the T3 Bankstown, T4 Eastern Suburbs & Illawarra lines,' they said.
'There are also some flow on delays to the T2 Inner West and T8 Airport & South lines. Response crews are on site.
'Customers are advised to allow extra travel time and listen to announcements and check real-time apps before boarding trains.'

Trains have been brought to a standstill coming in and out of the station as crews race to repair the damage.
An update from Sydney Trains at 7pm said crews are working hard to resolve the issue but 'delays continue and increased journey times may be experienced'.
