A group of seniors in the Prime Minister's own electorate have been left furious after their local bus stop was moved to a place that forced them to tackle a steep hill.

Ellis, 92, said his pacemaker ruled him out of even trying to make the climb after getting off the bus.

"If I tried to walk up a hill, firstly I would run out of breath," Ellis told A Current Affair.

"And the first thing my cardiologist said was, 'you don't walk up any inclines, because I can't guarantee what will happen to you."

GP Dr Ted Arnold said there were a huge range of reasons seniors shouldn't be forced to tackle the hill.

"Collapse on a hot day, a fall, or death - in an old person anything can upset the apple cart," he said.

Veronica, 85, said she moved to her home in the neighbourhood 10 years ago mostly for the convenience of the nearby bus stop.

"(The change) takes away our independence," she said.

"I've written emails to everybody - to the minister, to the local member, Waverley Council, the engineer. I have gotten no results."

Ruth, 94, said the decision was an unfair repayment for their years of taxpaying.

"Now they have taken the bus stop, they have forced us to stay at home, sit on the couch, and age prematurely," she said.

A spokesperson for New South Wales Transport Minister Andrew Constance said Opal card data and community consultation informed any changes to bus stop locations.

“Community feedback was carefully considered regarding the location of bus stops in North Bondi," the spokesperson said.

“For customers unable to walk longer distances, the NSW Government also provides community transport services to help maintain their independence.”
