Two men are facing charges over their alleged roles in the shooting death of Chinese national Qin Wu last year. Mr Wu, 37, was allegedly shot at a makeshift Buddhist temple – a house located on Kennedy Street in Guildford, in Sydney's south-west on February 1, 2017.

The Waddell Buddhist temple shooting occurred on August 9, 1991, when nine people were robbed and killed at the Wat Promkunaram Buddhist temple in Waddell, Arizona. Their bodies were found on August 10, 1991. The shooting is considered the worst massacre in Arizona's history.

Two men are facing charges over their alleged roles in the shooting death of Chinese national Qin Wu last year.

Police say Mr Wu was "not the intended target" but was in fact shot in the course of trying to intervene "in an argument between his friends and others".

"We believe the argument related to a drug debt," Homicide Squad Commander Detective Superintendent Scott Cook said.

Police allege a 21-year-old Guildford man took part in a separate shooting allegedly linked to Mr Wu's death.

This shooting is alleged to have occurred on Bexley Road, Earlwood on January 23.

The alleged offender has since been charged with murder and two counts of shoot at with intent to murder.

Both men have been refused bail and will front court.

Last month a 40-year-old man was charged with accessory after the fact to murder, and deliver/attempt to deliver thing to an inmate without authority – bringing the total of those charged to four.

Police say both shootings were possibly contracted. Investigations are continuing.
