But Mr Ibrahim 's lawyer insists the "sustained harassment " from authorities is unwarranted . "Mr Ibrahim emphatically rejects any suggestion, express or implied, of any involvement in any illegal activity, and regards the continued and sustained harassment by NSW Police as unwarranted ".

The swoop at the Dover Heights home in Sydney's eastern suburbs started on Tuesday morning and involved officers from Operation Odin and sniffer dogs.

NSW Police detectives served Mr Ibrahim with a firearm prohibition order.

Authorities then remained at the home - where the blinds are drawn - with two officers stationed at the front gate.

John Ibrahim 's lawyer says a police raid at the underworld identity's Sydney mansion is sustained harassment , after officers left the property empty-handed after five hours of searching.

"A police operation is underway in Dover Heights relating to the serving of a firearm prohibition order," a NSW Police spokesman told AAP.

Mr Ibrahim's lawyer, Abbas Soukie, issued a statement later saying his client "vigorously challenged" the order.

"Following the provision of the firearm prohibition order, Mr Ibrahim's residence and vehicle were subjected to a search," the statement read.

"No items of interest were located during the course of the search.

"It is our view that the firearm prohibition order constitutes an abuse of process and is entirely without merit. Mr Ibrahim intends to vigorously challenge that provision of that order.

"Mr Ibrahim emphatically rejects any suggestion, express or implied, of any involvement in any illegal activity, and regards the continued and sustained harassment by NSW Police as unwarranted".

Mr Ibrahim's home was also raided last August when two of his brothers, Michael and Fadi, as well as his son, Daniel, and his girlfriend, Sarah Budge, were all arrested and charged variously on drug, tobacco and firearms charges.

But John Ibrahim has not been charged with any offences.

His mother's western Sydney home was also raided in August.

The lawyer acting for Catherine Marriott has expressed disappointment the Nationals are yet to finalise a response to a complaint of alleged sexual harassment against former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce. Ms Marriott, who was outed in the media despite wishing to remain anonymous, lodged a complaint with the Nationals about Mr Joyce's behaviour.It was made public in February.Mr Joyce has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and has also called for the inquiry to be finalised."I believe a conclusion is imminent," Mr Joyce said today. The lawyer acting for Ms Marriott, Emma Salerno, provided a statement to the ABC.
