The entire state of NSW has been declared in drought after a drier-than-expected June and July.

About 77 per cent of the state is either in drought or drought affected, while 23 per cent is experiencing intense drought, the latest official update shows.

"This is tough, there isn't a person in the state that isn't hoping to see some rain for our farmers and regional communities," NSW Primary Industries Minister Niall Blair said in a statement on Wednesday.

Massive hay convoy bound for NSW drought .
More than 60 trucks will make their way across the Nullarbor to deliver another 2600 bales of hay to NSW and Queensland farmers struggling in severe drought. A convoy of more than 60 trucks will travel across the Nullarbor from Western Australia to the drought-ravaged farming regions of NSW and Queensland.Rural Aid has bought $600,000 worth of hay bales, roughly 2600, from across WA to assist farmers struggling to feed their animals.The organisation has already distributed more than 6000 bales to farmers in the past six months, according to chief executive Charles Alder.
