Christopher Kevin Addley was 36 when, in December 2015, he arranged to meet the person he was messaging, at a Hungry Jacks in the Queens Street Mall, where he was arrested. 

Prosecutors allege he thought the person was a 14-year-old boy but it was actually an undercover police officer, posing as a child.

A jury was shown a fake profile picture, of a shirtless male, with his back to the camera, under the title "Mack, 18".

Some of their messages have been read in court. 

They include "Mack" saying: "I'm not 18, hey" and "don't say anything, hey ... only 14, almost 15."

He also said: "As long as you don't care about me being 14 hey ... not experienced like you man.." and "as long as u r cool with an inexperienced 14yo".

In court, Mr Addley argued he thought this was a form of "role play" and still believed he was talking to a man aged 18 or over. 

"It may be in a sexual role play situation," he told the court. 

"Throughout the whole context, from start to finish."

He said the fake profile picture showed a "muscular growth on the shoulders that a 14-year-old wouldn't have".

A jury is now considering its verdict.
