Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is undoubtably one of the most successful alumnae of the WWE. After a five-year long career in the NFL, Johnson secured a contract with the professional wrestling organization in 1996 and reigned the arena for several years until becoming a box office star.

He was a promising footballer during his high school and university days and later joined the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League after graduating from college.

While he is popularly known as The Rock, Johnson used his real name when he began wrestling and soon changed it to “Flex Kavana” in the United States Wrestling Association. He went through a name change again when he made his WWF debut – this time as "Rocky Maivia," a combination of his father and grandfather's ring names.

His “Saturday Night Live” appearance with fellow wrestlers Triple H, Mick Foley and The Big Show in 2000 kick-started his career in the movies. Johnson started receiving offers from Hollywood studios after the success of the show.

For the movie “The Scorpion King” (2002), Johnson took home $5.5 million and registered his name in the Guinness Book of World Records for receiving the highest salary for a first-time leading role.

He's a huge fan of Elvis Presley and convinced the director of the movie “The Game Plan” (2007) to add this aspect to his character in the movie. Most of the Presley memorabilia used in the film was his own.

Merriam-Webster added the word "smackdown," made popular by Johnson, to its database in 2007 and describes it as "the act of knocking down or bringing down an opponent."

On "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on June 17, 2016, Johnson ate his first candy after 27 years after Fallon convinced him to. He admitted he hadn't had any candy since 1989.

His family has a strong connection with wrestling. Johnson’s father, Rocky Johnson, and maternal grandfather, Peter Maivia, were famous professional wrestlers. His maternal grandmother, Lia Maivia, was one of wrestling's few female promoters. He also has many cousins and uncles in the league. In fact, five of his family members are in the WWE Hall of Fame.

His production company — Seven Bucks Production — got its name from the amount of cash he was left with at the time he was ousted from the Canadian Football League before he started wrestling.

The actor, known for an envious fitness regime, wakes up at 3 a.m. and works out for two to three hours daily in the gym. However, he does have a cheat day where he binges on his favorite meals and TV shows throughout the day.

The “Fast and Furious” actor owns a Ford F150 truck that he gets shipped to every location he is shooting at. He revealed in an LA Times interview: “Maybe I’ll get therapy one day for this, but there’s nothing that brings me joy, like, ‘I’m gonna go buy this yacht or Ferrari.’ But my truck is jacked up. There’s an 8-inch lift on it, it has big country tires on it — I call it brown neck. That’s my thing. I’m not into sports cars. I can’t fit into them. And I can’t have people drive me. I don't like service that way. Maybe I'll get therapy for that too.”
