Did Henry VIII divorce Anne of Cleves because she had conceived another man's child? Historical novelist says the king might have realised his fourth wife was not a virgin before annulling their marriage after just seven months

Did Henry VIII divorce Anne of Cleves because she had conceived another man's child? Historical novelist says the king might have realised his fourth wife was not a virgin before annulling their marriage after just seven months Alison Weir, 67, who has written several bestselling historical novels as well as historical accounts of Henry's six wives, made the claim in her latest book; 'Anne of Kleve'. Henry married Anne - who became Queen of England through the marriage - in January 1540, but the union was declared unconsumated and annulled just seven months later. Henry had initially agreed to marry Anne after commissioning a portrait of her, which was painted by Hans Holbein. But he then argued he was so disgusted by Anne's real physical appearance that he could not carry out his marital obligations by consumating the marriage.

The 42-year-old former Zimbabwe cricketer — who was paired with Joey Dee and Dakota Striplin during the Knockouts — froze on stage when attempting to sing The Lion King classic, 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight'. Henry forgot the lyrics twice, and after two false starts, he finally completed his performance on the third attempt, albeit with a little encouragement from coach Kelly Rowland.

It was a bad week. My father-in-law was getting buried in Adelaide the day before my performance. I'm thinking, "Gosh, I'm here on a reality TV show and my wife had lost her parent." Don't get my wrong, my wife was fine with me going and doing the show, as long as I could fly back again.

And you weren't feeling well either, right?

I had a cold as well. I was sort of dosed up on all the stuff to make me stop coughing. So when I went up on the stage, I guess I wasn't in the best head space. I had rehearsed well, but in that moment everything just went blank. What do they call it? A brain fart? It was just the words were there and then they were gone. It just wasn't a great week.

But really there's nothing to say. I can't say anything but the fact that I just stood there and the words didn't come. They went into the hole in the ground of lost words. But it was lovely to have the support of the audience and lovely to have Kelly come on stage.

The Voice 2019: The heartbreaking reason why Henry Olonga froze on stage during the Knockouts After a shaky start, Henry felt the love with this Lion King performance What did it mean to you for Kelly to go up on stage and show her support?

All of us have clangers in life. We all have moments when we struggle with self-belief, moments where you just have a little bit of doubt. And it's just a matter of someone putting an arm on your shoulder and saying. "You're still good." It just sort of refocuses the mind. It was good she came up. The other thing is I had no idea what's supposed to happen in a situation like that. I didn't know if I was supposed to stay there and try again.

Did you just want to walk off stage?

No, no,  no. I didn't want to walk off — I just wasn't sure what I was supposed to do. It wasn't like I wasn't familiar with the words because I practised in the rehearsals and got through it OK. But come the evening, when my brain scrambled, it's not like the words disappeared completely — they were still there. I just needed to clear my mind and get rid of the clutter and the anxiety... and the cough!

After your performance, Kelly commented that you're too hard on yourself. Is she right?

Look, I think when you're on a show like that, you just want to give your best every time. You want to be flawless and when you're flustered, it just takes away from your desire to perform. I'm not a perfectionist, but at the back of your mind you remember this is a singing competition — it's a process of elimination. In other words, the coaches are looking for a reason not to pick you. Because at this stage in the competition, we're down to top 48 singers in the country and, rest assured, the judges are looking for something to separate you. They're looking for a stuff-up and I have given Kelly a bucket full of stuff-ups.

You looked genuinely surprised Kelly still picked you to continue in the competition. Did you feel bad for Dakota and Joey Dee?

Yeah! I kind of liked Dakota's performance better than my own. I think from a technical point of view, he nailed everything — he did all his lines, he did the choreography well, running around playing his guitar… I thought he was great. Then I come along and stuff up. Joey and Dakota go on stage and nail their performances and then Olonga comes along and takes the level of professionalism down a notch. I was so apologetic to the guys and it was so wrong to pick me.

The Voice 2019: Natasha Stuart on her moving performance with coach Delta Goodrem

The Voice 2019: Natasha Stuart on her moving performance with coach Delta Goodrem Natasha Stuart is progressing to the next stage of The Voice Australia after 'knocking out' two of her fellow artists in an extremely emotional performance.

When you get through, it's part exhilaration and part relief. There was basically exhilaration for I didn't go back to my hotel thinking, "I nailed it tonight." I went back to my hotel thinking, "Gosh, I screwed up. What just happened?" You get one shot at this and I was just thinking, "I've made a fool of myself on national TV." And you're thinking, "Was it worth?" In that moment, if you asked me on the night was it worth it, I probably would've said no.

But in hindsight, one of the lessons of my life — if you know the story of my life — you'll know I start very badly with most things. I tend to stuff up the first few things I do and I learn my lesson. I pull things together and I'm often able to fix things in the end. At the end of the day, I just get up. I still delivered the vocal, whether it was flawless or not. I still made it happen and I finished.

You're a motivational speaker, so that must've helped you get back up again?

What I say is it's not how you start, it's how you finish. I go to schools I tell them that. I go to businesses, I tell them that. And here I was having to believe my own words. Sometimes life doesn't hand you the hand you want it to give you, and sometimes the cards you're dealt aren't ideal. But with all your fortitudes and gumptions, stand up and make a strong finish. I hope I did that. I was a living example of how you can stuff up but still come back and carve something out.
