After working on a variety of TV specials and programs, including a radio hosting gig with Mix 106.5, Kruger joined Nine in a full-time capacity in late 2011.

In February 2012, she launched Mornings — which later rebranded as Today Extra — with David Campbell. Kruger began hosting Big Brother Australia 9 in 2012, and joined The Voice Australia in 2015.

But Sonia Kruger appeared tempted to come out in support of her pal Delta Goodrem on Sunday night’ s live show after the singer sent her some merchandise. She also threw some shade on Ronan Keating back in April, saying the new coach had some trouble settling in on the first few episodes.

She said Islam had taught her to see past religion and love people for who they were and she wished Kruger could do the same. 'Personally, I would like to see it stop now for Australia because I want to feel safe as all of our citizens do when we go out to celebrate Australia Day,' she said .

"I have more time to spend with Maggie now, rather than being committed on that daily basis," says Kruger, who has hosted Carols by Candlelight with Campbell for the last few years.

"And as much as I love presenting Carols, I'm also really excited about spending Christmas Eve with her.

"She's at that age now I think where she would really notice if I wasn't there, so from a mother's perspective it's good for me but it's also sad in that there will be a lot of people that I'll miss."

And now, with Maggie turning five in January, education is on Kruger's mind.

"Maggie's actually at an early learning center and we're going to keep her there for another year. There's a bit of a movement now to keep kids back and start them a little bit later," she says.

"I had discussions with the teachers, and they were saying 'they're adults for such a long time, just let them be kids.'
