The beloved comedian and actor — well known for his work in the hit film Best in Show and television shows like Modern Family and Everybody Loves Raymond — died of cardiac arrest at 6.45pm May 15, according to his death certificate. He was 86.

The document, obtained and released by TMZ, states that he suffered from myelodysplastic syndrome and coronary artery disease.

The document also acknowledges that Willard was a veteran of the United States Armed Forces and had 60 years of experience in the entertainment industry, stating the Modern Family star was buried at the famous Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles.

In 2015, Willard won a Daytime Emmy for a story arc as John Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful, he had previously been nominated in 1986 for outstanding talk or service show host for What's Hot, What's Not.

The Roseanne star was married for 50 years to Mary Willard, a playwright and collaborator with her husband. She died in 2018 at the age of 71.
