Channel Seven's home renovation show, House Rules, has been axed by the network.

But the show's former host Abbey Gelmi is certainly not dwelling on the past, with two roles with Seven keeping her busy.

Speaking to Perth Now on Sunday, the 30-year-old sports reporter said she was excited to cover the summer of cricket, starting with the Women's Big Bash League.

House Rules was noticeably absent from the network's content line-up at the annual Upfronts this month, alongside Plate Of Origin and Pooch Perfect.

Abbey admitted to Daily Mail Australia in December that she and new co-host Jamie Durie had big shoes to fill in the absence of veteran host Johanna Griggs.

'Johanna did an amazing job over so many seasons, so we're definitely hoping to do her and the show justice,' she said at the time.
