Dame Judi Dench has reflected on the time she resuscitated her pet goldfish.

The 85-year-old Oscar winner recently shared her ordeal during How To Wow podcast, saying that she had to give her beloved pet mouth-to-mouth in an attempt to save its life.

"This is the first time in my life I haven't got a cat, a dog, and my goldfish died. It's a very sad story," she revealed to British host Chris Evans. "I once gave it the kiss of life. It died when it was very little and I gave it the kiss of life and it grew to be six inches [15cm] long. We kept it in a nice tank."

Dench explained that her family looked after 17 cats during the wartime.

This isn't the first time Dench opened up about the death of her beloved goldfish. In a 2012 interview on The Graham Norton Show, the veteran star said she "gave the breath of life" to her pet after seeing it floating upside down at the top of the fish tank.

"I blew in his mouth," she admitted at the time, adding that she then named her pet Lazarus after the biblical figure who was brought back to life by Jesus in the Bible.

"I suddenly saw a little flicker, so I blew down its mouth," she added. " I know now that it should be in its gills, but I didn't know."
