Strictly fans poke fun at ill-timed opening song after restrictions

Strictly's choice of song Free by Ultra Nate in one performance caused dozens of viewers to take to Twitter , with some poking fun that the show was 'out of touch'.The hit BBC show returned to screens on Saturday night with a pre-recorded episode to reveal who the celebrity contestants had been paired with.

The 'EastEnders' actress and her professional dancer partner are hoping to wow the judges - Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas and Motsi Mabuse - with their tango routine to 'Midnight Sky' this weekend (31.10.20).

Last week's leaders HRVY and Janette Manrara will do a Viennese Waltz to Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber's hit 'Stuck With U' whilst Nicola Adams and Katya Jones will dance their Couples’ Choice to 'Shine' by Years & Years.

4. He was a runner on The Shining

According to an anecdote recounted by his half-brother Tony on BBC Radio 3, Simon got his first taste of Hollywood when he worked as a runner on director Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 horror film ‘The Shining’, which was filmed on Elstree Studios and starred Jack Nicholson as writer Jack Torrence, who descends into madness whilst working as the caretaker of a closed hotel. In one famous scene, Jack breaks through a door with an axe, shouting: “Here’s Johnny!” and it was a young Simon’s job to polish that axe. Tony said: “It was only a stone's throw away from where we grew up. I well remember him saying he used to clean Jack Nicholson's axe in between takes for the most famous scenes. He took great pride in it, you could see your face in it, it was so shiny.”

5. Simon has an unusual allergy

8. He's an avid cartoon fan

Simon starts his day in the same way each morning, by having breakfast and watching his favourite Hanna-Barbera cartoons, such as ‘The Flintstones’ and ‘The Jetsons’.
