Myanmar grieves as funeral rites held for young anti-coup protester
A sombre Buddhist funeral song rung out in Myanmar's capital as the body of a young woman, struck down during a rally against this month's military coup, was carried to a ceremony marking the end of her short life. Mourners gathered outside the funeral hall held up the three-finger salute that has been adopted as a gesture of resistance to military rule. The crowd departed as her coffin was set ablaze for her cremation, a thin plume of smoke rising from the funeral hall's chimney.
Taylor Swift is proud of her actor boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, who was just cast in a huge new TV project.
The 'Love Story' singer sweetly liked Alwyn's Instagram announcement that he would appear in the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney's 2017 novel, Conversations With Friends.
"Conversations With Friends is one of my favourite books of the last few years. I'm so grateful and excited to be invited on board, and to get to work with this amazingly talented group of people," Alwyn wrote on Instagram.
Alwyn previously starred in the 2019 mini-series, A Christmas Carol. He's also set to appear in the upcoming series Brideshead Revisited.

The Conversations With Friends series will have 12 episodes. It's been made by the same creative team who brought Rooney's novel Normal People to small screens. Alwyn has been cast alongside Alison Oliver, Sasha Lane and Jemima Kirke in the four lead roles.
The couple is typically private about their relationship, with Swift mentioning Alwyn on very few occasions.
She most recently discussed how Alwyn was a part of the writing process on her album Folklore. He helped her write 'Betty' and 'Exile' under the pseudonym WIlliam Bowery.
"There's been a lot of discussion about William Bowery and his identity because it's not a real person," the 30-year-old Grammy winner said. "So, William Bowery is Joe, as we know."
