The 34-year-old singer revealed she's expecting her first child with her husband Caspar Jopling — and the pregnancy was a complete surprise.

The couple, who tied the knot in August 2019, were celebrating their one-year wedding anniversary when they found out they'll soon be a family of three.

"It was crazy because it was our one-year anniversary. That was not the plan," the Love Me Like You Do singer told Vogue. "The thought of getting pregnant didn't seem like it could be a reality. Becoming pregnant kind of made me feel human."

Goulding, who is 30-weeks along, said she was in "denial" when she first found out, describing how her body is changing and adapting as the pregnancy progresses.

Although the English singer is "very excited" about what's ahead, she said she is finding the thought of being pregnant amid the coronavirus pandemic very daunting, adding that it can feel lonely at times.

"It wasn't something I had planned for right now," she told Vogue. "[And] I knew it was a more solitary journey because of what's going on."

Goulding added although her pregnancy has been relatively good so far, she feels as though it's 'taboo' to talk about the challenges of pregnancy.

"The sickness and tiredness was nothing I'd ever experienced before," she confessed. "It's not always serene and like you're not always glowing."

"It's not always going to be easy," she acknowledged. "[But] I have a newfound respect for any woman who has children."
