Prince Charles would have also given his father an update on what's been going on outside the hospital's walls, particularly the situation around Prince Harry and Meghan

Just days before Prince Philip walked himself into hospital, his grandson finalised his long-awaited exit from the royal family.

The following day American television network CBS announced it had secured a world exclusive interview with Harry and Meghan, who have recorded a tell-all with Oprah Winfrey.

Prince Philip is understood to have wanted reassurances on the family's situation from Prince Charles himself.

The duke is expected to remain in hospital for another few days at least.

His youngest son Prince Edward told Sky News the duke was getting frustrated in hospital.

"I think that gets to all of us, and then you can only watch the clock so many times and the walls are only so interesting," the Earl of Wessex said.

"He's looking forward to getting out, which is the most positive thing, so we keep our fingers crossed."

What is “the royal institution?” Has Harry lost his title, and was Archie denied a royal title due to all the drama? And in their exodus, how will Meghan and Harry make money? It’s enough to make anyone’s head spin.
