The 2021 Latin American Music Awards has announced its nominees, with Karol G and J Balvin leading the list with nine nods each. Bad Bunny follows with eight nominations -- including artist, song, album and social collaboration of the year -- while Ozuna is recognized with seven nominations , including artist and collaboration of the year, favorite video and virtual concert. In a sign of the times, the Latin AMAs adds the brand new category favorite virtual concert of the year, as most concerts have gone virtual due to the ongoing global pandemic.

The following is a list of events and new music that happened or are expected to happen in 2021 in the Latin music industry. Latin regions include Ibero- America , Spain, Portugal, and the United States.

Get ready for the 2021 Latin American Music Awards!

The nominations for the upcoming celebration were announced on Tuesday, with J Balvin and Karol G leading the pack with nine nominations each. The two are up for Artist of the Year and Song of the Year, among others.

Bad Bunny follows with eight nominations, primarily honored for his album, YHLQMDLG. Ozuna follows with seven, with Anuel AA and Camilo with six nominations. Snoop Dogg, Carrie Underwood, Doja Cat, Sia and Nicki Minaj are just some of the other artists up for their first Latin AMAs, for their collaborations with Latin artists.

Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny has won two Latin Grammy Awards , four Billboard Music Awards , an MTV Video Music Award , two American Music Awards , six Premios Lo Nuestro

The Latin Grammy Awards took place on Thursday, Nov. 19 awarding the year’s top artists in Latin music . Featuring mostly video acceptances and a limited red carpet, performers did take the stage and wowed. This year's Latin AMAs will take place on April 15 at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida. The three-hour awards ceremony, honoring the best Latin music of the year, will be hosted by Jacqueline Bracamontes.

The 5th Annual Latin American Music Awards was held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. It was broadcast live on Telemundo. Ozuna lead the nominations with nine nods.
