An Australian singer played a key role during the funeral of Prince Philip as the royal family mourned the loss of the United Kingdom's longest-serving consort.

Australian soprano Miriam Allan was one of four choir members in St George's chapel, part of the scaled-down service broadcast live on television.

The service for the late duke had just 30 guests — because of the United Kingdom's COVID-19 restrictions — with the highest-ranking members of the royal family in attendance.

Restrictions meant the choir also had to be scaled back significantly.

St George's Chapel has dozens of singers who regularly perform during services.
