India's second coronavirus wave causing global 'crisis' as COVID-19 vaccine supplies disrupted The global vaccine supply chain, already under extreme pressure, has been thrown into disarray by the COVID-19 crisis devastating India. India is the world's biggest manufacturer of COVID-19 vaccines, and the Serum Institute of India had been earmarked to produce a third of the global supply of the AstraZeneca vaccine in 2021.As India's healthcare system collapses under the second wave of infections, the Indian government has virtually halted vaccine exports, instead keeping supplies onshore to inoculate its own population.

Despite many African countries struggling to obtain enough Covid - 19 vaccines , some have thousands of expired doses they have been unable to use. Malawi has been left with 16,400 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine , while South Sudan has 59,000 - all now past their expiry date, 13 April. Both countries say they have decided to destroy these consignments, donated via the African Union, despite the World Health Organization (WHO) asking for them to be kept while it investigates whether the expiry date can be safely extended.

The vaccine demonstrated an overall efficacy against Covid - 19 of 78. 1 % in international phase 3 clinical trials and 78.7% efficacy in preventing hospitalization, according to WHO data. He added that the Sinopharm approval expands the list of jabs that can be bought by the COVAX facility – the initiative designed to boost equitable global vaccine distribution. Sinopharm has produced two Covid - 19 vaccines in total, with its other jab developed with the Wuhan Institute of Biological Products.

The COVID - 19 immunisation drive is expected to be largest in world history, and that too, within a relatively short time. Gaps may arise, and divisions emerge, as the world is getting "bifurcated" according to their vaccine providers, in an "East vs West" kind of equation. The inactivated vaccine platform (used by Sinovac, Sinopharm, Sputnik V and Bharat Biotech) means they are more "stable", i .e. they don't need super-cooling, and therefore can offer hope for the underdeveloped parts of the world. Chinese, Russian and Indian-made vaccines have proven attractive to lower and middle

"We will be able to start the vaccination campaign . We are satisfied, we are happy and I remember once again that the Covax mechanism is a mechanism that gives free vaccines. Thus, the most vulnerable people, as the Minister of Health said, can be vaccinated. So it's an important day. For us, every time we introduce a vaccine in a country is to celebrate life, it is saving lives, and we are happy today. It must be said that the government has subscribed only on March 31 at the Covax facility, while the South African variant was wreaking havoc in the country. The executive had so far preferred to put

forward the CVO, a traditional remedy launched by President Andry Rajoelina, a year earlier. Despite the severity of the health crisis, Jean-Louis Rakotovao, the Minister of Public Health, does not deny his strategy. "We see, and it is the study that shows it, that those who have taken the CVO do not make serious shapes. So the vaccine will be complementary to the therapeutic arsenal we have so far.

Still, the President of the Republic, traveling in the south of the country, did not attend the vaccine ceremony.

Got the vaccine? You can relax about your Covid-19 risk now. Really. .
I asked experts about their post-vaccination lives. Most no longer worry about their own risk of Covid-19. The vaccines really are that good for your personal safety The clinical and real-world evidence for the vaccines is now pretty clear: They are extremely effective at protecting a person from Covid-19. The clinical trials put the two-shot Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines’ efficacy rates at 95-plus percent and the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine’s at more than 70 percent.
