These two horses made one dying mother's wish come true
Robert's mother, Rita, always loved horses. From joining the police force at age 17 and meeting the Queen Mother to moving to Australia with the family, her life was remarkable. But as she got older, Rita developed lung cancer and had just one wish: to pat a horse one last time. So the NSW Police Force stepped in to make that dream come true. Robert Parnaby, 40, from Newcastle, NSW shares his tribute to a very special mother:As we stood by my mother, Rita's, bedside we watched as she took her final breaths. I started to tear up. It'd been a long time coming. She'd been battling lung cancer for two years, in and out of hospice care. I held her hand.
'We do the best we can as mums, and I have to go back to work one day a week,' she explained.
'We don't really have parent support. Our parents are elderly and unable to look after bubba for long periods of time, so this was the best option for our family.'
The reality star, who is also mother to 10-year-old daughter Grace from a previous marriage, added: 'It's hard enough navigating being a new mum again, and working and juggling [both].'
