In an actor way, I appreciate that he really loves being Spider-Man," the 25-year-old actress said. "It's a lot of pressure — you take on the role of a superhero wherever you go. To the little kid who walks by, you are Spider-Man. I think he handled that so well.

Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet discussed the challenges of filming Dune in the desert on Thursday during a remote visit on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

The 25-year-old actress and Timothée, 25, were asked by huge Dune fan Stephen, 57, about shooting the highly anticipated sci-fi film at odd hours to beat the heat.

'Yes, sometimes it would get so hot during the day that sometimes you had to shoot between 5am and 7am and 5pm and 7pm. Because I guess it would be too dangerous to shoot outside with the steel suits we were wearing that ironically cool characters in the movie, but in real life are the heaviest, sweatiest things,' Timothée said.

'Let's talk about the chafing. How much talcum powder are we talking?,' Stephen asked.

'Talcum. Talcum powder. A lot of talcum powder in the morning, a little bit in this hand and a little bit in this hand, sensitive parts, and you're good to go,' Timothée said.

Stephen asked if they got sand in their outfits and Zendaya said they were 'pretty sealed up'.

The Emmy-winning actress said sometimes she wanted to wear the sweaty outfit despite the heat for protection.

Zendaya explained that Dune director Denis Villeneuve, 54, gave her a first note on her character Chani that she 'would move through the rocks like a gazelle.'

'This is her home, she's a Fremen, she's one with her home. I immediately was okay, got it. I gotta look cool through these rocks. And I just would try like my best to slide off of things. That's when you want that steel suit to be on there so you're not ripping your skin off,' Zendaya said.

Dune: Everything You Need to Know About the Sci-Fi Movie Before It Hits Aussie Screens

Dune: Everything You Need to Know About the Sci-Fi Movie Before It Hits Aussie Screens In terms of classic sci-fi book to movie adaptations, it's hard to get bigger than Dune. Frank Herbert's iconic novel has seen its fair share of big-screen attempts, including a film from David Lynch. But this next live-action Dune adaptation will be one of the biggest yet. Here's what you need to know about the new Dune movie before its release date. What's Dune all about? Dune is a sci-fi epic that spans multiple planets, families, religions and political systems in the distant future.

'But, yeah, there was some chafing for sure,' she added.

Stephen asked Timothee who portrays protagonist Paul Atreides what the Dune story meant for him.

'I feel like it's about oppositional forces. I think it's about fighting for what's right, I think it's about fighting for what's right in context of what's gone wrong. Whether in the story it has to do with the exploitation of Arrakis, the oppression of the Fremen people,' Timothée said.

'Very tunnel vision from my point of view, it's a story of a young man being thrust into a circumstance way too soon without a set of experience to be able to handle it. That has tragic things happen to his family, without giving anything away, and somehow through perseverance, through working through his personal fear, through the bravery of that is unable to overcome it, in some way,' he added.

'Is the second half being made?,' Stephen blurted.

Zendaya and Timothée both agreed that Stephen in the second half of Dune should play the Emperor of the Universe.

The Dune film is based on the 1965 novel of the same name by late sci-fi author Frank Herbert that won the inaugural Nebula Award for Best Novel and the 1966 Hugo Award.

The film premiered last month at the Venice International Film Festival followed by an international release by Warner Bros Pictures.

Dune was released in US theaters on Thursday and also made available simultaneously on HBO Max.
