But Channel Ten is still insisting the show is the 'most critically acclaimed' season ever despite becoming the lowest rated in the history of the franchise.

The Bachelorette was beaten in the TV ratings by Home and Away, Seven's The Chase Australia and Nine's gaming and reality shows including RBT, Hot Seat and Paramedics.

It was easily outnumbered by 10's other primetime program Gogglebox, which notched almost double The Bachelorette's figures with 596,000 viewers.

The Project also beat the reality dating program, but also had a paltry audience of 394,000.

Channel 10 took in a low audience share of 13.7% and 20.4% for the network for Thursday.
