Entertainment Will Smith narrates dramatic first teaser for Bel Air
Marcus Smith takes a step forward as he helps England beat Australia
OLIVER HOLT - CHIEF SPORTS WRITER AT TWICKENHAM: Smith dictated the pace of England's play and refused to be rattled out of his stride in his team’s eighth successive victory over Australia. He also provided the moment of inspiration for England’s first try. With every game he plays, it becomes more evident he represents England’s future.
Peacock dropped the first teaser for it's upcoming dramatic reboot of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air which reimagines the belovedsitcom with a more serious tone.
Smith, 53, provided a somber narration to the 40 second clip for Bel-Air by speaking rather than rapping some of the original lyrics to the Fresh Prince theme song.
Newcomer Jabari Banks is seen in stepping into Smith's star-making role as Will in the clip, wearing the character's signature sideways cap and sitting on his throne.
Quite unlike the early 90s comedy, the teaser for Bel-Air was quiet and dark. Jabari Banks is seen dressed in character, evoking the original made famous by Will Smith in a T-shirt, vest and yellow sideways cap.
Smith encouraged by first Norwich training sessions
Dean Smith is convinced Norwich have the quality to survive in the Premier League after seeing positive signs in his first training sessions with his new squad. Smith, named as Daniel Farke's replacement on Monday with the Canaries bottom of the league on five points from 11 games, has only had a couple of days to get to know the players ahead of Saturday's match against Southampton, but has quickly been impressed. © PA "We all know this is a tough league to get points in, but from what we've seen early doors on the training ground, there is enough quality to get enough points," Smith said.
'This is a story all about how my life got flipped, turned upside down,' Smith narrates as Banks plunges backwards into a pool of dark water.
The short clip sees Banks swimming through murky waters while familiar images from the opening sequence of the sitcom - like fuzzy dice - float by.
Banks spots a throne and swims over to sit where a crown falls down on his head.
'I looked at my kingdom, I was finally there to sit on my throne,' Will continues.
According to the official synopsis, the one-hour drama will be set in modern times and explore 'Will’s complicated journey from the streets of West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air.'
Three weeks covering the disappearance and rescue of Cleo Smith, many lows and one incredible high
James Carmody reflects on three weeks covering the search for Cleo Smith, interviewing her distraught parents as they pleaded for public help, and the moment he learnt the little girl had been found. But that is what popped out in jubilant disbelief at 4.50am when my deputy editor told me Cleo Smith had been found alive in Carnarvon, 18 days after she had disappeared on a family camping trip.

'With a reimagined vision, Bel-Air will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases that were impossible to fully explore in a 30-minute sitcom format, while still delivering swagger and nods to the original show,' it reads.
The origin story for the forthcoming Peacock drama is one of the more unique in the industry. It all started with a moody, exceptionally well-done fan trailer made by Morgan Cooper that went viral.
Morgan's viral video, uploaded in March of 2019, featured actor Jerry Madison in Smith's role as a transplanted youth from Philadelphia dealing with a new set of circumstances in Bel-Air, California.
Smith insists he's a better leader now

The minor police kerfuffle Will experiences in the opening credits of the lighthearted Nineties sitcom is re-approached in the new clip, giving it new weight and meaning in light of more current accounts of repeated police brutality and violence against Black Americans.
'Everybody sent it to me,' Will Smith said when announcing Bel-Air's series order. 'It was outstanding. I had NEVER envisioned revisiting the Banks family in this way.
'We knew this was special, so we called @ryokanproductions and asked him to lead the team (he wrote on The Wire) and he said YES! Months of writing, developing and pitching… and now it’s happening.
'Bel-Air got a TWO SEASON order, debuting in 2021 on @nbc’s streaming service @peacocktv. Morgan Cooper and Chris Collins, you are THE TRUTH!!' he concluded.
The original Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air ran from 1990 to 1996 and co-starred James Avery, Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid, Alfonso Ribeiro and DJ Jazzy Jeff.
Smith: Spending power offers no PL survival guarantee
Norwich head coach Dean Smith has warned that no club should expect to buy their way out of the relegation zone in January. The Canaries sit 19th and travel to bottom side Newcastle on Tuesday night, where victory could see them close in on the sides above them and boost their own survival hopes.
Jabari learned he'd been cast in the role via a video chat with Will Smith himself in August, which Peacock then shared online.
The coveted role of Will in the Peacock reboot will be Banks' first television role.
Bel-Air will be released sometime in 2022.
