The Oft-Forgotten California Islands Are Cooler Than You Imagine

The Oft-Forgotten California Islands Are Cooler Than You Imagine It is a cliché-evoking, warm Southern California day, and I am precariously perched in a kayak off the coast of Santa Cruz Island, letting out a series of unholy high-pitched shrieks. A spotted seal has just jumped onto the rock next to me, and to say I’m delighted by the visitor would be an understatement. He pauses a moment to take me in, and then, unperturbed by my Harry Styles-fan cosplay, slips back into the dark blue water and disappears. While I also swooned at a passing bald eagle, and loved seeing a densely populated colony of nesting California Brown Pelicans (even though they smelled exactly like you’d expect), the brief seal encounter might be my favorite.

The CEO also cited Seven's Tokyo Olympics coverage as a huge success for the network.

There were some disappointments for Seven however, with golfing reality show Holey Moley and Big Brother VIP falling short of expectations.

Mr Warburton thinks that the end of lockdowns around the country got in the way of Big Brother's success.

'The show launched as Sydney and Melbourne were coming out of lockdown, so it was a pretty tough environment for any show,' he said.

The future of Big Brother VIP has been thrown into question following a disastrous ratings season this year.

Despite a headline-grabbing cast and a tireless marketing campaign, the latest season struggled to contend with its rivals.
