Robert Irwin is on the mend after a scary trip to the hospital.

The 14-year-old TV star and wildlife ambassador revealed on Instagram January 12 that he underwent emergency surgery to remove his appendix.

Even under those circumstances, Irwin couldn't help but keep a cheery disposition. In the photo, he smiled brightly and even gave the "thumb's up" sign as he lay in his hospital bed.

Hero leaps into Yarra Rivers to rescue another man .
A man in Melbourne has pulled off a daring rescue after leaping into the Yarra River to pull another man to safety overnight. Police were called to Harbour Esplanade at Docklands at 9.20pm following reports of a man in the water.Without a thought for his own safety the hero, aged in his 20s, jumped into the water to try and assist the man.The hero came into trouble himself shortly after and the two men were pulled from the water by emergency services.A man in his late 50s was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital and remains in a stable but serious condition. He is suspected to have suffered a heart attack.
