‘Utterly exhausting': NAB customer feels ignored after losing $35,000

‘Utterly exhausting': NAB customer feels ignored after losing $35,000 National Australia Bank customer Bridget Box thought she was protecting herself from scammers by checking the bank's phone number. Little did she know, that was part of the scam.Sensitive to the possibility of scam calls, Box was at first hesitant, but the caller told her to pull out her NAB bank card and check the phone number on the back.

Tuesday marked the end of a whirlwind Spring/Summer 2023 fashion month season that began with a hopeful bang in New York City with Heaven by Marc Jacobs-inflused Doja Cat parties, then quickly turned sombre with the death of England's longest-reining monarch – and London fashion week subsequently taking place during a state-enforced mourning period. It was faced with the Kardashians en masses in Milan and then bookmarked by a depressing Yeezy show in Paris. Amid it all were moments created specifically for the algorithm (see: Coperni's spray-on dress finale), extreme sets (see: Balenciaga's mud pit), and celebrity cameos aplenty, both in the front row and on the runway. This season, it seems that the goal was to be behind the most talked-about show, have the biggest party and cause the most virality. By the end of it all, the sunglasses attendees wore inside were less to do with style and more to do with practicality.

Cost of living: Becoming roommates with my son to pay the bills

Cost of living: Becoming roommates with my son to pay the bills With rising costs of housing, food and fuel, a non-profit founder in Alabama is forced to split bills to make ends meet.Alabama, United States – When Cara McClure was in elementary school, every year at Thanksgiving, the school delivered a box of food and a certificate for Buster Brown shoes to needy families in their small community of Powderly, on the west side of Birmingham, Alabama.

But there's a reason certain specific fashion houses have stood the test of time, continuing to have loyal customers and be culturally relevant even as the culture and, subsequently, the industry continuously changes and evolves. Perhaps no better example of exactly why this is was Chanel's runway show on the final morning of fashion month. The very next morning after Kanye West's controversial Yeezy meltdown, as social media was still reckoning with its fallout, Chanel was the definition of 'when they go low, we go high.' The French fashion house, now led by former Karl Lagerfeld prodigy Virginie Viard, opted out of any performative moments made to engage the TikTok set, nor did it release an impractical accessory made specifically to go viral (with the exception of the most glorious tiny bags the house has been doing forever, anyway: see the 2008 miniature ankle version inspired by Lindsay Lohan's law-enforced ankle bracelet). Instead, Viard delivered a quintessentially Chanel collection, down to every last bow seen on model's sparkling belts and interlocking logo double-Cs layered over otherwise simple black dresses.

James Cameron's sci-fi fantasy to introduce new clan modelled on New Zealand's Maori people. And it seems Disney may be the next to sail into perilous waters in the much-anticipated blockbuster sequel Avatar: The Way Of Water, reports The Daily Mail's Alison Boshoff.

Viard based her latest collection on Alain Resnais's 1961 film Last Year at Marienbad, whose star, Delphine Seyrig, had her on-screen wardrobe at the time designed by Coco Chanel. Seyrig's wardrobe was created specifically to confuse the audience about the chronology of the film, which jumps back and forwards in time. Chanel, therefore, created pieces, such as a chiffon cocktail dress and two-piece suit, that purposefully couldn't be pinned down to a decade, nor a trend. Similarly, the collection Viard debuted to an audience seated in a dark cinema-style room with a montage of scenes from the black and white film playing behind the runway, could have been taken directly from the archives.

There were the house's signature tweed suits, black evening gowns, and short coat dresses, worn by models who were refreshingly diverse. These signature pieces were juxtaposed perfectly with sparkly knee and thigh-high socks (paired with the house's signature cap-toe slingbacks, also sparkle-embossed) and ostrich-feathered jackets, as well as tiny lace shorts peaking out from the bottom of bow-laden white shirts. Looks were styled in a fun and young way with layers of pearls and long leather gloves that made every piece look somehow simultaneously elegant and timeless while being fresh and forward.

Chanel ambassador Kristen Stewart – the perfect embodiment of Viard's effortlessly chic designs – not only sat front row at the show, but created a short-film that was screened in black and white ahead of the runway commencing. Chanel can't have known it at the time of creating its collection, but a Chanel-laden palate cleanser – and a reminder of just how important timeless elegance is – was just what we needed come fashion month's close.
