The Culture Club frontman sat down for an interview on U.K. chat show Loose Women on Monday and opened up about a period in the '90s when he would make trips to the Royal Free Hospital in London because he was so overcome with panic he thought he was going to die.

"When you're in the public eye, you're going along and then suddenly... you realise you're not so in control of your life as you think you are," he told the panel. "I had a period in the 90s, had these really bad panic attacks, I used to go to the Royal Free Hospital and freak out. There was nothing wrong with me. I thought, 'I'm dying!'

Boy George has admitted he feared for his life when he was suffering from panic attacks on a daily basis. The musician, 56, opened up on his mental health battle during an appearance on Monday afternoon’s Loose Women, explaining it got so bad at one point he thought he would die .

"Eventually somebody just said to me, 'You need to learn how to breathe, change your diet, maybe try yoga...' just calming down."

Panic attacks are a sudden and unprovoked overwhelming surge of anxiety and fear and signs can include shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness, chest pain, and a racing heart.

The 56-year-old singer, real name George Alan O'Dowd, revealed that he didn't usually have symptoms beyond the feeling of panic.

"It's not logical. Sometimes there's no symptoms, you're just like, 'What's wrong with me?' You just lose it," he explained, adding that it's hard to diagnose what would trigger an attack. He continued, "It can be food, it can be too much coffee, it can be stress."
