Glenn Dyer’s TV Ratings

Glenn Dyer’s TV Ratings More ratings domination for Seven's Commonwealth Games coverage.A special mention for last night’s Australian Story, the best episode for ages — 533,000 nationally up against the games, and deserved triple that.  The subject was former Australian Commando, Mick Bainbridge taking on the public servants and military high ups in Defence and then Veterans Affairs and winning, with the help in part of Jacqui Lambie and a local lawyer.

The first qualifying final between Adelaide and Greater Western Sydney dominated the night with 1. 5 million viewers last night on Seven and 7mate 1. 16

Seven easily won the night and the week too with My Kitchen Rules grabbing 2.389 million nationally and over 1.6 million in the metros. End of night. Tonight though is woeful for a ratings period. Thankfully there’s an NRL game on Nine, but Gogglebox has ended on Ten, the ABC resembles Showcase from years ago with Wentworth at 9pm. Seven’s 8.30 program is the UK version of First Dates, which bombs here. Sheesh. SBS at least has fresh eps of Great British Train Journeys and Luke Nguyen’s Food Trail. That is a real foodie program by the way, not a spat or a snark in sight.

In regional markets MKR dominated with 766,000, Seven News was second with 588,000, then Seven News/Today Tonight with 511,000. Home and Away was fourth with 461,000 and the 7pmABC News was fifth with 360,000.

Glenn Dyer’s TV Ratings No medals for guessing who won the ratings race last night.Ten is hanging in nicely given the strength of the opposition on Seven, thanks to the Bachelor in Paradise with 874,000. The show does not depict paradise — far from it, it is a living hell for everyone. But it is not sport, and it is not the contrived prequel antics of Young Sheldon on Nine (1.04 million).

Glenn Dyer ’ s TV Ratings . The sleepy shrug of summer programming has well and truly commenced. Glenn Dyer . Dec 11, 2017.

Glenn Dyer ’ s TV Ratings . Up against a field consisting of nothing much -- Married at First Sight aside -- Seven walked it home. So Nine is in effect ceding the night to Seven, which is very good sign of the financial strains in commercial TV today.
