Mayim Bialik is speaking out in support of mental health.

This month, the Big Bang Theory star, 42, joins a number of stars supporting Mental Health Awareness Month by joining the Child Mind Institute's #MyYoungerSelf campaign, which aims to open the discussion about mental health in a positive way.

Bialik recorded an exclusive video message on her smartphone where she revealed she has long struggled with mental health, but has found the right treatment plan to manage it.

"I think what I would have liked to tell my younger self about my mental health is that there are answers," the actress said in a May 10 clip shared by the Child Mind Institute. "For me, some of those answers I had to wait years to find and I needed to get different help, which ended up being really the right kind of help."

"But I had this notion when I was younger that if something didn’t work once, or if a therapist didn’t work, or if a medication didn’t work, that nothing would ever work," she continued.

Opening up : Mayim Bialik has revealed getting help with depression saved her life, and is urging others to do the same. Mayim the latest in a list of celebrities to take part in the Child Mind Institute's campaign, as part of Mental Health Awareness Month.

Along with Bialik, celebrities Kristen Bell, James Van Der Beek, Gabrielle Union, Brittany Snow, and Sarah Silverman have recorded personal message for the #MyYoungerSelf campaign.

The #MyYoungerSelf campaign isn't the first time Bialik has used her star power to raise awareness. A mum of two boys, the actress, who, like her Big Bang Theory persona Amy, is a neuroscientist, recently authored the book Boying Up, which explores social issues for teenage boys.
