Both Bourdain and Ripert were in France filming an episode of Parts Unknown.

"Anthony gave all of himself in everything that he did," she wrote. "His brilliant, fearless spirit touched and inspired so many, and his generosity knew no bounds. He was my love, my rock, my protector. I am beyond devastated. My thoughts are with his family. I would ask that you respect their privacy and mine."

Argento met Bourdain while collaborating on a Rome episode of Parts Unknown in 2016, and they began dating the following year. She also directed an upcoming Hong Kong episode of the celebrated travel documentary series. In a May interview with People, Bourdain gushed about not only working with his romantic partner, but how she made him happier in life.

"I want to spend as much time with her as I can," Bourdain said, revealing that he made time each month to visit Argento in Italy, where she is based, outside of the five days-a-month he regularly scheduled to be with Ariane, his 11-year-old daughter with ex-wife Ottavia Busia.
