And on Thursday, Yvonne Strahovski landed her first Emmy nomination for the role.

The 35-year-old, who is also pregnant with her first child, shared her excitement with  Vulture after being nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Other actresses competing for the Supporting Actress award include Lena Headey (Game of Thrones), Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Vanessa Kirby (The Crown) and Thandie Newton (Westworld).

The Handmaid's Tale earned a total of 20 Emmy nominations, however, Game of Thrones received the most nods with 22 overall.

The 70th Primetime Emmy Awards, which recognises excellence in television, will be held in Los Angeles on September 17.
