Gmail and Google Drive are back up after an hours-long outage affecting people around the world. Google confirmed the outage to CNET. It was widespread and appeared to cover North and South America, Europe and Asia, though not all users we impacted.

Google has been hit by outages in a host of countries around the world, with users reporting issues with Gmail , Google Drive , Hangouts and Google Maps for several hours. Trouble sending emails? You're not alone.

Gmail appears to be having trouble across the world, with reports of outages spiking and Gmail users flooding to social media to complain about problems sending emails.

Some users are also reporting issues with Google Drive.

According to a message posted on Google's GSuite Status Dashboard at 1:53 p.m. ET, both Gmail and Google Drive are experiencing what it describes as a "service disruption."

"We're investigating reports of an issue with Gmail," the message read. "We will provide more information shortly. The affected users are able to access Gmail, but are seeing error messages, high latency, and/or other unexpected behavior."

The services still appear to be up for plenty of users (Gmail was working for CNET staff New York and Australia but not for one of our reporters in San Francisco). But the outage is widespread and appears to cover parts of North and South America, Europe and Asia.

Inbox By Google Will Shut Down On April 3.
Back in September Google announced that it would be shit canning 'sunsetting' Inbox by Gmail. Now we have a hard date on when that will be. Inbox will be disappearing on April 3 in Australia, thus following in the discontinued footsteps of Google+ and Google Wave.
