  Google is apparently shipping some Pixel 2 XLs without an operating system Google’s new Pixel 2 XL has been beset by a host of problems since release, ranging from possible issues of screen burn in to a weird clicking noise to failing a quality control test to shipping with empty packaging for a non-existent pair of wired Pixel Buds.But even so, it’s a little surprising to hear that some Google Pixel 2 XL owners are reporting that their new phones have shown up missing an operating system, via AndroidPolice.

Assistant will now also include "What's this song ?" in its carousel of possible queries if you have voice as your preferred input. The big G debuted always-on music identification with its latest Pixel devices, which can compare tunes to an onboard database of more than 10,000 popular tracks.

It all happens locally on Pixel 2s, but on other devices, you will need an internet connection for Assistant to be able to do your bidding. Unfortunately, we cannot replicate the ability outside the US on either Android or iOS, and it's unclear if the feature will be available outside the US. Google is still in the midst of rolling it out, though, so check back later if you can't access it yet either.

Google has announced a bunch of new updates coming to Assistant today that should make it possible for developers to make more functional applications that better integrate with your Google Assistant devices. One of the biggest additions is support for new languages. Developers will now be able to write apps in Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Indian English.
