For example, if you only open the Reddit app a couple times a week, Android P will essentially ignore any resource requests (fancy phrasing for refresh requests) from Reddit and instead dedicate power to, say, your favorite, always-open CNET app.

Android Things Gets Official 1.0 Release. Wait, What The Heck Is Android Things?

Android Things Gets Official 1.0 Release. Wait, What The Heck Is Android Things? Android Things was first shown off back at Google I/O 2016, and now, two years later, Google's nebulous internet of things platform is finally getting an official release ahead of the 2018 edition of Google's annual developer conference. So what is Android Things, you ask? Well simply, it's another variant of the Android operating system like Android TV or Android Automotive, except this version has been designed specifically to perform best on IoT devices, such as smart thermostats, air quality monitors, and all sorts of little gadgets that don't really need a full-blown user interface like you'd find on a smartphone or laptop.

Android P – New features . When it comes to feature upgrades, Android P is not lacking. Google has clearly listened to the needs of its users and has quickly begun implementing the necessary changes. Android P – Is Android P coming to my phone ?

We're only at the beta stage, which means not all the new features coming to Android P will be included in the code yet, but there's already plenty to explore. For a start the OS relies much more on gestures, in the style of a certain flagship phone from Apple.

For instance, if you normally call a relative around a specific time on a specific day, App Actions will provide a shortcut to dial the person from within the app drawer.

Wellbeing features

digitalwellbeing-blog© Provided by CNET digitalwellbeing-blog Google is tackling smartphone addiction with a wellbeing program. The company wants to encourage you to spend less time on a phone and more time experiencing life without a screen. No, really.

Part of the wellbeing program on Android P is a new dashboard that breaks down your usage habits based on the app, number of times your phone is unlocked in a given day, and the number of received notifications.

Furthermore, more wellbeing features include an app timer to limit your time in an app and a new wind-down mode that turns your phone's interface into a black and white display at a set time each night. The lack of color is supposed to discourage you from spending too much time on the phone right before bed.

Shush, a feature related to Do Not Disturb, activates when you place a phone with the display down against a flat surface. The phone automatically enables Do Not Disturb mode, ignoring any potential interruptions during a meeting or family dinner.

New screenshot tool!

Finally, Android P is adding better tools to do more with screenshots. After taking a screenshot, you'll have the option to annotate and share it directly from the screenshot interface instead of relying on a third-party app, as has been the case in the past.

Motorola Razr is coming back and it's gunning for the Samsung Galaxy X .
Motorola is working on a folding phone which could well carry the iconic Motorola Razr branding. If brought to market, this new handset would be in direct competition with the rumoured Samsung Galaxy X, folding iPhone and Huawei's foldable phone.
