Scott Johnson's accused gay hate killer 'wasn't surprised' by arrest, police say
NSW Police say the man accused of killing Scott Johnson in a gay hate attack almost 32 years ago was not surprised when he was arrested, and the $2 million reward offered was "paramount" to getting an informant to come forward.Detectives arrested Scott White, 49, at his Lane Cove home on Sydney's north shore, and charged him with the 27-year-old mathematician's murder.
A former childcare worker in a daycare center in Viersen in North Rhine-Westphalia is said to have killed a three-year-old girl from the daycare center. The 25-year-old suspect has been in custody since Wednesday on suspicion of murder, as the Mönchengladbach public prosecutor and the police forces involved announced on Friday.
According to the investigators, there was an emergency doctor mission on April 21 in the Viersen daycare center because the three-year-old was no longer breathing. Due to a medically unclear situation, the hospital informed the police on April 29. The girl died on May 4th. Extensive investigations and a forensic medical examination led to the suspicion that the girl was killed by external influences.
The suspect was arrested on Tuesday. With reference to the ongoing investigation, the authorities initially gave no further details on the case.
