Roar avoid sixth straight defeat against Jets Brisbane left it late to end a rotten run

I guess that I forgot I had a choice I let you push me past the breaking point I stood for nothing So I fell for everything. (Pre-Chorus) You held me down Louder, louder than a lion ‘Cause I am a champion And you’re gonna hear me roar You’re gonna hear me roar . Now I’m floating like a butterfly Stinging

it is seen most of the time as the player sitting down on the bench witnessing the play, then instantly rising to his feet in some dramatic fashion. most times it is usually the benched players' goal to rise up first, and if they choose to extend his arms and hold his teammates from moving further ahead,it is

Melbourne City moved up to equal second on the A-League ladder with a 1-0 win over Brisbane Roar on Friday night, the decisive goal coming from an unexpected source in marquee defender Ritchie De Laet.

As a ploy to replace the out-of-favour Bruno Fornaroli, it was certainly unexpected – the sort of 'false nine' no one, least of all the Brisbane coaching staff, might have expected.

But it paid dividends when the Belgian struck to give his team the game's only goal early in the second half.

Oh, ye of so little faith Don’t doubt it, don’t doubt it Victory is in my veins I know it, I know it And I will not negotiate I’ll fight it, I’ll fight it I will transform. When, when the fire’s at my feet again And the vultures all start circling They’re whispering, "You’re out of time” But still I rise .

De Laet, who has been battling injury for much of this campaign, worked hard, harried, hassled and presented for the ball, showing the kind of commitment throughout that Joyce has consistently demanded of his charges.

Perhaps it should not be seen as such a great surprise. The former Manchester United and Leicester defender is no stranger to poaching goals from deeper positions. This crucial strike was his fourth of the season.

City, who had not lost to Brisbane at AAMI Park since 2010, threatened early. A long ball from Scott Jamieson found Luke Brattan, also playing in an advanced role, the midfielder stealing between defenders before seeing his shot deflected to safety. From Brattan's corner the busy Rostyn Griffiths flashed a header over the bar.

Lachlan Wales, used as a makeshift central striker for the past few weeks in place of Fornaroli, started on a flank. He had an excellent chance when he was played through by Griffiths only for Roar keeper Jamie Young to tip his shot to safety.

Riley McGree, one of City's skilful young attackers, was forced off after just 14 minutes with a knock to the knee which club officials later said was not serious.

Wales was once more denied by Young after being sent through by Kearyn Baccus' through ball, and then he fell foul of the offside rule after turning in De Laet's header from Bratttan's cross, his effort from close range disallowed.

City looked positive and were playing the ball quickly and with pace but Brisbane began to find some traction and in the 27th minute themselves had the ball in the net, Adam Taggart finishing well from Eric Bautheac's through ball only to be ruled offside.

Ride, Rise , Roar is a documentary film chronicling the Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno Tour conducted by David Byrne in 2008–2009. The film includes concert footage, footage of the planning and rehearsals for the tour, and exclusive interviews with Byrne, Eno

Rise Up Lyrics. VERSE 1: Take us higher than weʼve ever been before Show us things that weʼve never seen before. PRE CHORUS: Your love is lifting me To new heights in CHORUS: Weʼre gonna rise up for You In everything that we do From glory to glory, strength to strength Weʼll go, for You.

City then produced its best move of the game to date, Brattan's pass finding the overlapping defender Harrison Delbridge. His cross only needed a touch, but Nathaniel Atkinson, on for McGree, could not connect.

Griffiths, who was making his presence felt in midfield, produced a searing long-range drive one minute from the interval which Young did well to turn over the bar.

Young again came to the Roar's rescue shortly after the restart with an excellent one-handed save to tip Jamieson's drive over the bar after Wales had set the City captain up with a deft header.

But the Brisbane keeper could do nothing two minutes later when De Laet popped up to justify Joyce's confidence in his ability as a frontman.

Baccus found Griffiths on the right as Roar partially cleared a corner, and De Laet escaped the attentions of Jack Hingert to sweep home Griffiths' cross.

De Laet made way for Osama Malik with 20 minutes remaining, Wales taking the central position and Dario Vidosic coming off the bench to play wide on the left.

Vidosic inadvertantly almost set Roar up for an equaliser when his misplaced clearance fell to Nicholas D'Agostino in the penalty area, but Eugene Galekovic saved from close range to preserve a clean sheet and lift City level on points with Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC.
