Warriors investigate alleged assault involving promising utility Patrick Herbert, reports© Getty Images Promising Warriors utility Patrick Herbert is being investigated for allegedly assaulting a teenager at a party over the weekend, according to reports.

The 22-year-old and his mother were allegedly involved in an altercation between two families in Auckland on Saturday night.

Auckland woman Elizabeth Baker alleged in a social media post that Herbert and his mother attacked her 19-year-old son. The post has since been removed from Facebook.

Warriors' chief executive Cameron George confirmed that the club were looking into the incident, which Herbert himself brought to their attention.

"On Sunday Patrick reported an incident to the club that occurred at his house involving family members and friends," George told the New Zealand Herald.

"We are working with both families and the NRL as regards to the incident and there is nothing further to add."


Although the Warriors announced that the club will stand down any club member accused of serious offences two weeks ago, the utility back won't be sanctioned until their investigation is complete.

Herbert, who has twice represented the Junior Kiwis, returned to Auckland last October after three years at the St George Illawarra Dragons.

Although the 22-year-old is set to make his NRL debut, he took part in the Warriors' first trial match against the Storm in Geelong last month.
