Parramatta are reportedly leading the race for Dallin Watene-Zelezniak's signature after the Kiwi captain asked Penrith for permission to talk to rival clubs earlier this week.

The Daily Telegraph earlier reported the Eels had tabled a deal but were yet to get a response, however WWOS' The Mole has revealed those negotiations have ramped up.

The Eels have not filled their 30-man squad, which is required to be submitted by June 30, and Watene-Zelezniak could be one of the final pieces.

Ties to Parramatta came to life a week ago but the versatile back denied any rumours of a switch to the Eels.

"I woke up that morning and I was like: 'Wow, I have no idea about this'. It's pretty weird but all I know is I'm signed here for two years," he told The Fox League Podcast.

"That was my biggest fear. I have been reassured that I've got two years here and I'm happy and I'll be doing everything I can to do my best for those two years."

North Queensland have also been linked in their never-ending quest for a quality fullback.

The Australian's Brent Read said a decision on Watene-Zelezniak's future will progress further next week when his manager returns from England.

''His manager Tyrone Smith is over in England at the moment and he's actually started texting clubs to ask them whether they'd be interested in Dallin,'' Read told Sporting News.

While another video shared online shows three NSW Police officers surrounding the suspect. Two of them have their tasers out while another shouts instructions at the man. One officer can be heard shouting: 'Get down on the ground. Get down.' While initial reports said the man had been tasered by the police a NSW Police spokesperson said that was not the case. Seven News reported that hearings at the court are likely to be interrupted as there is 'major damage' to the building.

The fullback has been linked with a move to the Parramatta Eels.

Dallin Watene - Zelezniak has likely played his last game for Penrith after he was granted permission to negotiate with rival clubs. Watene - Zelezniak wants out of the Panthers after he was dropped from the NRL side to face Parramatta on Thursday. The Eels are seeking a centre and are prepared to

''He's told them he will be back on Tuesday so clubs have until Tuesday to say 'yeah, we're keen'. Tyrone will come and step that up next week.''

Read believes the Panthers are going to have to cough up a large chunk of his lucrative salary if they want to offload him.

''I think they're going to have to foot some of that bill because the suggestions are he's on upwards of $700,000-800,000 next year for the last year of his contract,'' he said.

''There's no way anyone will pay that for him. No way in the world.

''Penrith are going to have to chip in a lot of money, maybe even half of that if he is to leave.

''They've a big decision to make as to whether they're willing to do that.

''I don’t know whether Dallin will get over $400,000-$500,000 on the open market to be fair.''

In Watene-Zelezniak's absence, having been left out of the first and reserve grade squad's this week, Penrith gave some hope to a season that looked beyond lost with an inspiring 16-10 victory over Parramatta, led by NSW hopeful Nathan Cleary.
