Earlier, Cats legend Jimmy Bartel was left scratching his head at his former teammate’s recent conduct.

“What are you doing Gary? Why are you so angry?” Bartel queried on Macquarie Sports Radio.

“I know that’s not his nature, I know him really well, but he still punched him in the head!”

Bartel likened Ablett’s actions to the movie Chopper, based on the life and crimes of Mark ‘Chopper’ Read.

“You know in the movie Chopper, when he cleans someone up and he straight away goes ‘oh, sorry about that’.

“He (Ablett) punches him in the head then puts up his hand and goes ‘ohhhhh’.”

Bartel also foreshadowed that Ablett would likely face a suspension due to the way incidents such as his hit on Miles are being adjudicated in 2019.

“They’ve stopped using the potential to cause serious injury and for some reason they’ve dropped that throughout the year,” Bartel said of the match review procedure.

“A couple of elbows to the head and a punch to the face, I know it’s not hard [contact] but it’s pretty hard to argue there isn’t potential to cause injury (by) being punched in the face.”
