Brisbane winger Corey Oates is poised to re-sign with the Broncos on a $1.5 million, three-year contract.

The damaging Queensland Origin flanker is one of a few high-profile Broncos players unsigned beyond this year and arguably the most important.

Oates inked a one-year deal in the pre-season remain with Brisbane but is now ready to commit long-term, according to The Courier-Mail's Peter Badel.

The 24-year-old has scored 89 tries from 132 matches in the maroon and gold since his NRL debut in 2013 and Broncos fans are set to be treated to amazing Oates finishes for years to come.

“Corey Oates is staying at the Broncos,” Badel told NRL Tonight on Fox League.

“Last year, he waited nine months to sort out his future. He only signed a one-year deal in October.

“Now, he’s looking at a multi-year deal.

“Brisbane have tabled a three-year offer worth $500,000 a season. A $1.5 million package. That will be enough to keep Corey Oates at Red Hill.

“He doesn’t want to leave Brisbane. The Broncos don’t want to lose him and I think you’ll find at the end of this Origin series he will re-sign with the Broncos.”

The Broncos' attention will now turn to keeping key forwards Matt Lodge and Tevita Pangai Jnr at Red Hill.

The club still has cash available from the mid-year departures of Kodi Nikorima and James Roberts and will likely throw much of what's remaining at Lodge and Pangai.

"They've got to keep Tevita Pangai, they've got to get Matt Lodge bedded down on a long-term deal," The Australian's Brent Read told Sporting News last month.
