Pearce has earned a recall to the NSW side for Wednesday's decider after two years out of the State of Origin arena.

But The Sydney Morning Herald's Danny Weidler reported Pearce won't receive a top-up from the Knights for the achievement, having opted to centre his bonus on Newcastle's success.

The halfback will reportedly bag up to six figures extra if the Knights finish in the top eight, with the amount to increase in the event they make the top four.

And he credited his rejuvenation at the Knights as one of the reasons he's brimming with confidence.

"Look, I'm really comfortable in my leadership and the footy I'm playing at Newcastle," Pearce said.

"I feel like I've done a really good job, especially over the last three months, to get our team in a really good position.

"As a halfback, I take pride in that ... These opportunities, these moments come along, and I'm going to give my best with what I've got right now."

Comment: One pass has made all the difference to Mitchell Pearce's Origin legacy.
How many passes does a rugby league halfback throw in their career? Thousands. Long ones and short ones, quick bullets and looping floaters, cut-outs to wide runners and pop-ups to charging forwards. Passing is a halfback’s trade. So it’s amazing how for some, everything can come down to one pass. In one brief, blinding moment, a half’s whole career becomes a question of throwing a ball just once. Like a rugby league adaptation of Kipling: if you can risk it all on one ball’s toss… Mitchell Pearce was in no position to risk anything.
