'I can coach Souths and Qld': Bennett

'I can coach Souths and Qld': Bennett Master coach Wayne Bennett insists he can coach South Sydney and Queensland at the same time as Kevin Walters continues to be linked to the Gold Coast.

Veteran coach Wayne Bennett said the star has no plans to ask for a release, but admitted Gagai has told him his favoured position. While Gagai may have a preference to play at centre, his most recent performance on the touchline should be cause for confidence - the Maroons star tore apart NSW at

Queensland coach Kevin Walters insists his relationship with Brisbane coach Wayne Bennett is 'fine' and they are 'good mates' despite rumours of an The veteran coach last week further angered those close to Walters by refusing to endorse the Maroons boss for the vacant Gold Coast job.

    And any other signing news?

  • 2 Who will Parra get?

Ask the Lurker: Should Wayne Bennett coach the Maroons? © Provided by Perform Media Channels Limited Jake Diesing: Hey mate what’s Parra’s chances of actually signing Welch and where do they sit with the George Burgess situation? Also any truth to the Arrow to Parra rumours and if so will Parra sign all 3?

The Lurker: Hi Jake, no they can't sign all three. Impossible to do salary cap wise. Burgess offer is markedly reduced from the offer earlier this year. Personally, I'd go Welch. Hard-working, strong carry and one of the best offloads in the game. Jai Arrow is an interesting one, if he's smart he gets out of the Gold Coast. I keep hearing Cronulla as a potential replacement for Gallen.

State of Origin: ‘I’ll be back next year’, vows Queensland coach Kevin Walters

State of Origin: ‘I’ll be back next year’, vows Queensland coach Kevin Walters Walters is among the candidates to take over at the Titans next season and has made no secret of his desire to be an NRL head coach.

The Lurker: Still a bit of water to flow there Daniel, namely whether Darius plays on. RP becomes a live chance if Darius doesn't continue on with the two years that reman on his deal.
  • 4 Are the Knights thin?

Ask the Lurker: Should Wayne Bennett coach the Maroons? © Provided by Perform Media Channels Limited Matty Moller: Any news of the Knights looking to recruit some outside backs....it’s looking quite thin for next year.

The Lurker: Hi Matty, not sure why you view it as thin. Ponga, Lee, Ramien, SKD and Hunt would all be starting players in the majority of NRL sides. SKD will be offered reduced offer to stay while Hunt is in a similar boat.
  • 5 Drama continues at the Sharks

Ask the Lurker: Should Wayne Bennett coach the Maroons? © Provided by Perform Media Channels Limited Nathan Goodchild: Shaun Johnson to be replaced by Flanagan? If so, any chance the Broncos could nab him?

Paul Vautin interested in Queensland State of Origin coaching job if Maroons lose series He famously coached the Maroons to a State of Origin series victory in the 1990s, and now Paul Vautin is considering putting his hand up again if Kevin Walters makes way in the role.

" Wayne Bennett should see out his contract, which comes to the end next season, and the Brisbane Broncos should move on," Moore told Fox Sports News. Moore, who played 17 Origins for the Maroons between 1992 and 1997, also didn't like the idea of Bennett remaining at the Broncos as

Bennett wanted clarity around the future of the club, but it became clear he was unlikely to be at the helm beyond 2019. He asked them, if not him Walters had fallen out with Bennett , but club officials were aware of the power struggle between the Maroons coach and fellow assistant Jason Demetriou.

The Lurker: No - Johnson will be retained this weekend against Melbourne. Flanagan came up with some extremely rookie and crucial errors at the back end of the game that were match-defining. As for long-term, I'm not sure how many times I can say it here - Flanagan will be at the Chooks in 2020.

  • 7 Who will replace Rapana?

Ask the Lurker: Should Wayne Bennett coach the Maroons? © Provided by Perform Media Channels Limited Jordy Bates: If Rapana leaves will we chase Nene Macdonald as a replacement ? #asklurk

  • 9 Flanagan is leaving

Ask the Lurker: Should Wayne Bennett coach the Maroons? © Provided by Perform Media Channels Limited @AdamSte30339848: With Johnson being shit, any chance Sharks keep Flanagan?

The Lurker: Kyle and his management have made the decision to ask for a release from the final year of his contract (2020) at the Sharks. He will be at the Roosters in 2020, 2021 and 2022. The decision is a weird one given it was his father Shane that led the push to recruit Shaun Johnson. I think it's arrogantly impatient from the 20-year-old. What's even weirder is that young Flanagan will join a log-jam of halves at the Chooks including Luke Keary, Lachlan Lam, Brock Lam, rising star Sam Walker and don't forget Latrell Mitchell has declared he wants to play 6 in 2020.

  • 10 Stop trying to make the Walkers happen

Ask the Lurker: Should Wayne Bennett coach the Maroons? © Provided by Perform Media Channels Limited @Psycorpion: All these coaches are the same!!... the Walker brothers will make change for the better!!

The Lurker: If all these coaches are the same, why is Craig Bellamy about to record his 300th win? The Walker brothers tactics are simply not sustainable in the NRL.

  • 11 Where to for Walker

Ask the Lurker: Should Wayne Bennett coach the Maroons? © Provided by Perform Media Channels Limited John Mags Magnusson: With Manly doing everything to sign the Tro brothers where will Dylan Walker land? He can’t possibly fit under the cap now

The Lurker: He can if he accepts a cut-price deal that he's been offered.

  • 13 Should Origin be moved?

Ask the Lurker: Should Wayne Bennett coach the Maroons? © Provided by Perform Media Channels Limited Ben Todd: Why do they continue having Origin on a work/school night anyone with half a brain would realise you'd sell more tickets and get higher tv ratings if it was on a Friday or Saturday night and I'd also be able to have a few beers and not have to worry about driving to work in the morning

The Lurker: Hi Ben, I totally get this view. But this is a business at the end of the day.The broadcasters have cut the numbers and everything indicates Wednesday night is a greater return commercially with more viewers watching the game than when it has previously been played on a weekend.  Secondly, it's currently school holidays in NSW. And thirdly, do as I do, crack your first tinny early - and I mean like before 4pm- make an impact on the esky until kick-off, than put the brakes on while the game is on.

Maroons refuse to confirm starting side

Maroons refuse to confirm starting side Assistant Justin Hodges has refused to confirm Queensland's starting side for the State of Origin series decider in Sydney. But Hodges did reveal the Maroons were confident of avenging their 38-6 game two loss, pointing to their superior record in deciders. Hodges claimed just hours before kick-off that he had no idea what line-up would run out at ANZ Stadium after the loss of veteran back-rower Matt Gillett with a groin strain.

Wayne Bennett insists Brisbane Broncos hooker Andrew McCullough is ready to be the successor Bennett said McCullough, now in his 10th full season in the NRL, was set to take the next step and Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga, who took Queensland to nine Origin series wins in his 10 years at the

Wayne Bennett 's Broncos are leading the NRL premiership and he hasn't a worry in the world. MORE: Jarryd Hayne might play State of Origin in 2016 | The Lurker : NRL drug bombshell latest. I wonder though whether Wayne ever thinks back about the mess in which he left his former club, Newcastle.

The Lurker: Hi Glenn, I can confirm that the two players, aside from Kyle Flanagan and Jayden Brailey, weighing up their futures are Scott Sorensen and Kurt Capewell. Sorenson knocked back a great offer in March and is now playing NSW Cup because Briton Nikora has gone ahead of him while Capewell has already knocked back a massive offer from the Warriors, but believes he can get more elsewhere than what the Sharks can currently afford.

  • 16 Super Isaako

Ask the Lurker: Should Wayne Bennett coach the Maroons? © Provided by Perform Media Channels Limited @WiseBirdius87: Hi mate. With Anthony Seibold suggesting Milford may be the Broncos fullback long-term, what does that mean for Isaako?

The Lurker: Hi mate, Isaako is a winger. If he's squeezed from the Broncos, no less than six clubs would be willing to sign him. Super talent.

'It feels a bit surreal': Pearce is finally on the right side of Origin history.
This 80 minutes was meant to inform us about Mitchell Pearce in a way that 268 NRL appearances and 18 previous State of Origin matches never could. That somehow all that he has and will achieve will be seen through the prism of this one performance and somehow put it all into its proper perspective. Of course, it doesn’t work like that. The result, aside from determining where the shield went, would also determine what we made of Pearce. You can’t get a 20th call-up unless the ledger is at least partly redressed. The Newcastle captain’s record still makes his state wince but at least it registers a series win.
