Hawks reportedly set to swoop on Crows star © Getty GWS Giants star Stephen Coniglio has been heavily linked with a move to the Hawks all season After years of signing mature-aged recruits, Hawthorn is reportedly eyeing Adelaide Crows star Hugh Greenwood as its next big fish.

With the injury to Brownlow Medallist Tom Mitchell as well as the drop in form of ageing greats such as Jarryd Roughead, the Hawks have experienced a rare down year.

However, with a high draft pick set to bolster Hawthorn's stocks, Alastair Clarkson's side could perform a quick pivot with the inclusion of Greenwood who is currently out of contract.

According to the AFL.com.au report, the Hawks are among a number of rival clubs who are closely monitoring the 27-year-old's contract negotiations with the Crows.

Fantasia eyeing Essendon exit: report

Fantasia eyeing Essendon exit: report There is speculation that Essendon Bombers star Orazio Fantasia is looking to exit the AFL club and return to his home state. Fantasia signed a two-year extension last August with Essendon, but a report from AFL Media claims that the Bombers fan-favourite is wanting to go back to South Australia following the completion of the 2019 season. Fantasia, 23, has reportedly requested a trade and Port Adelaide Power are considered the favourites to land him. However the two-year Bombers deal that takes him to 2021, would mean he is a free agent after that point, giving him greater freedom to go where he wants.

Manchester United have reportedly set their sights on Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo, who is also a primary target for Tottenham. The Italian star has been tipped for a bright future at the highest level, with a number of top clubs scrambling to try and secure his services during the summer window.

After an impressive breakout season in 2018 which saw him average a career-best 17.4 disposals per game and 6.6 tackles per game, Greenwood has backed up those numbers in 11 games so far this season.

If Hawthorn finishes the season in the 13th position it currently occupies, it could head to November's National Draft holding the sixth pick, the club's highest selection since the 2006 Draft where it selected Mitchell Thorp sixth overall.

Hawthorn has also been heavily linked to GWS Giants star Stephen Coniglio all season, just 12 months out from its failed pursuit of Coniglio's former Giants teammate Dylan Shiel.

Coniglio is not the only Giant to be linked with the Hawks, with the club understood to be interested in oft-injured forward Jonathan Patton.

Crows clear Jenkins for AFL return

Crows clear Jenkins for AFL return Adelaide coach Don Pyke says key forward Josh Jenkins will return from a knee injury and play against Port Adelaide in Saturday's AFL match. Adelaide forward Josh Jenkins is a certain starter in Saturday's AFL grudge match against Port Adelaide. Crows coach Don Pyke says Jenkins, who hasn't played since suffering a knee injury three weeks ago, has passed a match-eve fitness test. "He has surprised himself how quickly he has come good," Pyke told reporters on Friday.

The Hawks were mulling over whether to recruit the 24-year-old as a rookie or put him straight on to the senior list. Will Langford's delisting and retirement, but mooted move to the rookie list since he is contracted until the end of 2019, opened up a spot for Minchington to join the senior list.

Patton has been thought of as damaged goods after he underwent his third knee reconstruction during the season and is understood to be earning a salary of around $500,000 with the Giants through 2020.

However, after getting former Giants midfielder Tom Scully at an extremely low price due to his serious ankle issues that caused him to miss most of 2018, Hawthorn will back its medical staff to get the most out of Patton.

AFL trades: Gold Coast Suns interested in Hawthorn veteran Shaun Burgoyne.
Gold Coast are reportedly keen to bring Hawthorn veteran Shaun Burgoyne to the club as an on-field mentor to the struggling team. In a role similar to Luke Hodge's at Brisbane, Burgoyne would reportedly have the option to transition into a coaching position at the Suns at the conclusion of his illustrious playing career. According to the Herald Sun's Mark Robinson, the Suns list manager Craig Cameron confirmed that they were interested in the four-time premiership winner. Burgoyne, 36, has played 370 AFL games and will go down as one of the modern greats.
